Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer Review
The great Kitchenaid mixer tradition which we are about to review, and of which the artisan series is now a key range, started many, many, years ago in 1919, when Kitchenaid launched its first product, a desktop mixer, for restaurants.
Being targeted at restaurants, it had to be tough, in order to cope with heavy bulk use. Did it take off? Well, 92 years later, and Kitchenaid mixers continue to dominate the top reviews.
It was a good place to start as the culture required to serve such a tough market became embedded within the Kitchenaid ethos.
Ever wondered why Kitchenaid mixers still look like the mixer Grandma used to use? Because the requirements of a quality cook never changes. And the best cooks know the importance of doing things the traditional way.
The mechanical part of preparing good food is the same today as it has always been. Kitchenaid understood it back in 1919 and they still understand it today. After all, why change something that works?
What you may also not have realised is each mixer is still assembled by hand, 92 years later!
The difference with Kitchenaid is the mixers are very tough and durable, yet versatile. They cover every operation you could possibly require and get stuck into the task with a degree of reliability many other brands could only dream of.
Another great aspect is, once you’ve added your ingredients, you can essentially leave the mixer to get on with the job itself.
And, the artisan range includes the unique Kitchenaid mixing action in which the beater spins clockwise, whilst the shaft spins in the opposite direction, at the same time. This causes the beater to touch sixty seven different points in the bowl which ensures every mix is very thorough.
Moreover, it avoids having to turn the bowl manually.
Whilst the Kitchenaid artisan mixer products may be steeped in tradition, the decor of the mixer is not. Blending seamlessly into every kitchen, both traditional and modern, the striking and rich distinctive mixer colours means your guests cannot but notice your mixer poised on a countertop.
But, this is exactly what most of the more discerning Kitchenaid mixer customers want. Kitchenaid mixers are a talking point. And, not only will they spark a topic of conversation, your mixer also speaks volumes about your taste.
Kitchenaid mixers haven’t featured in the top five of mixers in Good Housekeeping, repeatedly, without being noticed by more than one or two.
And aligning your kitchen equipment with a product that many top chefs, the world over, swear by says something about your own potential talents as well.
But, let’s face it, if you weren’t a good cook, or aspire to be one, then you wouldn’t be reading an article on Kitchenaid artisan mixers right now, would you.

A Customer reflection, “I love the KitchenAid mixer. Heavy duty, very powerful, and great looking. I was a little hesitant because of the price, but it turned out to be well worth it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who cooks or bakes a lot.”

The mixers are easy to clean. All of the artisan range include an ingredient pouring chute which temporarily latches onto the side of the bowl to ensure that many of your powdery ingredients end up where they should, in the bowl, and not all over your countertop or on the floor.
The artisan range mixing bowls come in highly polished shiny stainless steel which makes them very durable and easy to clean. A handle, which has been ergonomically designed to fit like a glove, makes lifting heavy dough’s a breeze.
All or the artisan range have tilting heads which means removing or inserting the bowl, or any of the head mixing attachments, is easy, and doesn’t require any awkward or irritating manoeuvres.
This feature also makes cleaning is light work. And talking of cleaning, you only need to wipe down the main mixer stand, and all of the attachments (including the bowl) are simply washed with everyday household washing up liquids. It's as easy as that.

Another Customer reflection, “This mixer is amazing! There is no other mixer that I would consider replacing my KA mixer with. My boyfriend bought this for me since he knows I love to bake all the time. He did his research and purchased it after seeing that it wasn't some overpriced mixer that was useless. I've had no trouble with it. I have a pink one and it is gorgeous. It mixes everything so well, and there have been no issues with this. I am in love!”

As a standard, each mixer comes with a tough dough hook that will pound even the most rigid of dough’s. There is a flat beater which deals with batter, meat loafs, and the like. And then there’s the whisk which firmly, but delicately, deals with all of your creams, mayonnaise, soufflés, at the like.
And there are 10 speeds on most of the mixers which give you the entire range, from a slow stir to the high speed whisks you may otherwise require.
This website covers the key elements of the range. You will find many options at the links opposite.
The mixer featured on this page is the KitchenAid KSM150PSWH Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, White. This particular mixer consists of all the attributes described above and comes in a striking white that makes your kitchen sparkle white clean.
Like the other mixers in the artisan range, this mixer makes creaming butter, kneading dough, or whipping cream very simple to do. This solid sturdy mixer does all the hard work, so you don’t have to.
The three standard attachments described above are of sound constructions and are easily secured into the mixer head with a simple twist.
The bowl locks easily into place onto the base. And, whilst firmly secure when in mixing mode, all can be removed with equal simplicity.
In addition to the standard attachments there are a range of optional attachments which maximes your "kitchen aid" such that it can carry out just about any food preparation job you can think of.
From citrus juicer all the way through to sausage stuffer, it’s everything you could possibly need.
